‘Careless Crime’ wins award at Chicago Int’l Film Festival

Iran’s ‘Careless Crime’ is awarded at the Chicago Int’l Film Festival in the US.

‘Careless Crime’, the latest production by Iranian director Shahram Mokri, has nabbed an award at the 2020 Chicago International Film Festival in the US.

Following receiving its latest prestigious award at the Horizons strand of the 77th Venice Film Festival, ‘Careless Crime’ has shined at the 56th Chicago filmfest by winning the Silver Hugo Jury Prize.

Produced by Negar Eskandarfar (A Separation), the 134-minute feature is about four men in modern-day Iran who plan to burn down a movie theater, an act that replicates a historical tragedy that occurred 40 years ago during the uprising to overthrow the Pahlavi regime.

Babak Karimi, Razieh Mansouri, and Abolfazl Kahani star as the cast members of the film.

‘Careless Crime’ is currently on screen at the 60th Vienna International Film Festival in Austria.

The Chicago International Film Festival is aimed at fostering better communication between people of diverse cultures through the art of film and the moving images.

The 2020 edition of the Chicago festival kicked off on October 14 and will run until October 25.
